International Welders Programs [IIW, EWF] cover the manual welding methods (MMA, TIG, MIG/MAG Flux Cored, Oxy Fuel) with over 400 hours of hands-on learning per method, ensuring the best possible practice in all welding positions for all metallic materials.
In addition to the International Welders Diplomas, the possibility of ISO 9606 certification according to the International Standards for Personnel Certification ISO /IEC 17024 may obtained.
Introduction
As the industry now requires more skilled welders to cope with the demands of production, Welding Greek Institute Programmes provide a combination of comprehensive theoretical knowledge and high level of practical skills assessed by examinations of increased difficulty.
Practical training of Welders for each method consists of 3 parts, Fillet Welds, Butt Welds for Plates and Tubes. For each part of the above mentioned parts all welding positions are covered.
The theoretical training, for all methods, helps the candidate to be fully aware of the process, not just executing the process, but to understand the welding process, to act appropriately per production and construction case and to be able to intervene when the possibility of an imperfection arises.
The candidate can choose one, two or more methods for his training. The programs of the Welding Greek Institute are the most complete and specialized, covering entirely the Welding process, as indicated by the world’s leading body, the International Institute of Welding. For this reason, beginners and inexperienced candidates may participate.
Theoretical training, among other things, concerns:
- Introduction to Welding Technology
- Power sources, Welding equipment,
- Protective gases and welding consumables,
- Materials and their behaviour during welding.
- Welding Techniques and Methods,
- Preparation of Base Materials
- Inspection and Quality Control, Non-Destructive (NDTs) and Destructive Methods. Welding Imperfections
- Health and Safety
- International Standards and Requirements.
- Use of Welding Simulators
- Case Studies.
Professional Integration
The Welding Greek Institute, in cooperation with its member companies, provides relevant information to candidates and Certified Welders, for professional/job opportunities.
Also our welders participate in global events (International Welders Cup), representing our country and promoting the technical professions at an international level.
Graduates of the Welding Greek Institute are registered in the International Welders list.
Watch a video of the Welding Workshops of the Welding Greek Institute, here.
For a Candidate to participate in Welders training programs of Welding Greek Institute, he/she should:
- Has a High School Diploma (9 years of secondary education).
- Good health, physical and mental.
1. ΜΜΑ Welder (Manual Metal Arc)
The program of the Welding Greek Institute for Welders who wish to be trained for the Manual Metal Arc Method, apart from the above theoretical training, they should follow the practical training as shown in the table below. The practical training covers the full range of welds for the MMA method.
ΜΜΑ International Welder
Module | Training Hours | Remarks |
Fillet Welding Plate to Plate | 90 | all weld positions |
Fillet Welding Plate to Pipe | 50 | all weld positions |
Butt Welding Plate to Plate | 150 | all weld positions |
Butt Welding of Pipe to Pipe | 150 | all weld positions |
Total practical training hours | 440
• Welding Greek Institute provides the necessary welding equipment, the base materials, the required consumables and personal protection equipment. • Welding Greek Institute has a Welding Simulator, for the first contact with the Process. |
The MMA method is the most traditional method of welding and is used almost everywhere!
2. TIG Welders
For Welders who wish to be trained for the TIG method, in addition to the theoretical training, they should follow the practical training as shown in the table below.
The training covers a full range of welds for the TIG method.
TIG International Welder
Module | Training Hours | Remarks |
Fillet Welding Plate to Plate | 50 | all weld positions |
Fillet Welding Plate to Pipe | 50 | all weld positions |
Butt Welding Plate to Plate | 100 | all weld positions |
Butt Welding of Pipe to Pipe | 100 | all weld positions |
Total practical training | 300
Welding Greek Institute provides the necessary welding equipment, the base materials, the required consumables and Personal Protective Equipment. Welding Greek Institute has a Welding Simulator for the first contact with the Welding Process |
TIG is a basic welding method that is used in heavy industry where the quality requirements are very high.
3. MIG/MAG/ Flux Cored Welders
For Welders who wish to be trained for the MIG/MAG method, in addition to the theoretical training, they should follow the practical training as shown in the table below.
The practice covers the whole range of welds for the MIG/MAG method.
MIG/MAG / MIG/MAG International Welder
Module | Training Hours | Remarks |
Fillet Welding Plate to Plate | 90 | all weld positions |
Fillet Welding Plate to Pipe | 90 | all weld positions |
Butt Welding Plate to Plate | 150 | all weld positions |
Butt Welding of Pipe to Pipe | 125 | all weld positions |
Total practicum hours | 455
Welding Greek Institute provides the necessary welding equipment, the base materials, the required consumables and Personal Protective Equipment. Welding Greek Institute has a Welding Simulator for the first contact with the Welding Process. |
MIG/MAG is also a basic welding method, relatively new, and is used at the majority of production and manufacturing procedures.
4. Oxy Fuel Gas Welder
For Welders who wish to be trained for the Welding Method, in addition to the theoretical training, they must follow the practical training as shown in the table below.
The training covers the whole range of welds for the Welding method.
Oxy Fuel Gas International Welder
