ISO 3834:2005 Certification Services
Quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials
The Welding Greek Institute is acting as ANBCC according the European Welding Federation / International Institute of Welding guidlines and rules for Greece and Cyprus.
In this context the ISO 3834 certification services are offered to clients which fulfill the standard quality requirement for welding of metallic materials.
ISO 3834 is the international standard for quality requirements for the fusion welding of metallic materials.
ISO 3834-1:2005 provides criteria to be taken into account for the selection of the appropriate level of quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials, among the three levels specified in ISO 3834-2:2005 ISO 3834-3:2005 and ISO 3834-4:2005. It applies to manufacturing, both in workshops and at field installation sites.
ISO 3834-1:2005 does not specify requirements for a total quality management system. However, quality management system elements where their inclusion will complement ISO 3834 are defined. ISO 9001 states that, where necessary, special processes shall be identified, and the ISO 3834 standard is an excellent way to meet this requirement.
Because the quality of welding is manufactured into the product - not inspected - having an ISO 3834 certificate demonstrates their competence in fusion welding processes, assessed independently.
Compliance with ISO 3834 Parts 2, 3 or 4 as appropriate, is now mandatory in all European Constructors or International Constructors interested to export in Europe, related to pressure vessels or Pressure Equipment Directive parts or any other metallic construction process that may affect quality and safety.
The ISO 3834 certification process follows five steps:
- Management SystemAudit: An audit of the company's welding quality management system, identifies areas which require attention and improvement.
- Implementation and confirmation: The audit is a two-stage process. Stage 1 identifies the areas within the welding quality management system which require attention. Stage 2 is implementation confirmation, where the assessment team will examine specific contracts to assess compliance with customers' expectations.
- Validity: Once issued, the ISO 3834 certificate is valid for three (3) years. An annual surveillance audit by a qualified assessor is required to maintain the certificate validity.
The Welding Greek Institute offer Certification services world-wide, in the areas that no other ANBCC, full member of IIW/EWF is officially present.
