INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION IN THE WELDING WORLD ORGANISATIONS
The Greek Institute of Welding is Officially and Exclusively recognised as Authorised National Body [ANB] for Greece, awarded with such a recognition, during the Congress of the International Institute of Welding (IIW), in Paris on January 2013.
Full Membership in the IIW and EWF International Organisations Register, for the Welding Greek Institute, valid since Year 2007.
Active participation of the Authorised National Body [ANB] as Greek Welding Institute in domestic and international technological events, furthermore carries the stamp of the International Institute of Welding
and European Welding Federation (IIW & EWF), by 18 January 2013.
The Welding Greek Institute is a Non Profit Organization, based in Athens, Greece, National Representative in IIW & EWF Intrnational Organizations.

As it is required by the IAB rules, the Welding Greek Institute consists of 7 members Governing Board, which guaranties the Indepentency from major forces, as there are represented all market potential interests.

CODE OF ETHICS
PRINCIPLES AND TENETS APPLYING TO WELDING INSPECTION PERSONNEL:
Welding Inspection personnel qualified / certificated by WGI shall conduct their business affairs in a manner that demonstrates the following:
- Commitment: Endeavour to safeguard the welfare, health and safety of the community and its environment and give this priority before sectional or private interest.
- Integrity: Welding inspection personnel shall –
- Act with integrity, honesty and impartiality in work for clients and others;
- Not knowingly act, assist or engage in fraudulent or dishonest work or practices
- Competence: Perform work only within their areas of competence, i.e. within their capability, qualifications, training and experience
- Performance: Welding inspection personnel shall –
- Apply skill and knowledge in their work for, and in the interests of, their client and employers;
- Carry out work in a proper, impartial and proficient manner; and
- Compete fairly without inducements to secure work.
- No conflict of interest: To avoid potential conflict between the interests of clients, employers or the public and where this is unavoidable disclose forthwith the circumstances which may cause conflict.
- Confidentiality: To ensure that confidential or copyright information or material obtained in the course of work, is transferred to other parties only with written authority from a duly authorised person.
- Reporting: Welding inspection personnel shall –
- Give reports, evidence, opinions or statements in an accurate, objective and truthful manner,
- Ensure reports and documents are based on adequate knowledge, identify interest, and state any limitations or conditions; and,
- Inform clients and employers when, in the interest of health and safety, further work is required or that work is outside their competence.
- Improvement: Welding inspection personnel shall continue to improve their competence (knowledge and skill) to match changes in technology.
- Qualified / Certified persons are required to:
- Act in ethical manner and professional.
- Comply with the relevant provisions of the certification scheme.
- Comply with the certification requirements and supply any information needed for the assessment
- Make claims regarding certification only with respect to the scope for which certification has been granted.
- Help to increase the prestige of the certificate and not to use in a misleading manner.
- In the event of suspension or withdraw of Certification, the below signed Certify Person, refrain from:
- the use of all references (stamps, logos, certificates etc..) to a certified status,
- any further promotion of the certification
- In the event of suspension or withdraw of Diplomas / Certificates, the signed Qualified / Certified Person, agrees to return any certificates issued by the qualification / certification body or stamps or other material, to the Qualification / Certification Body, by his own expenses.
- Not to disseminate false or misleading information that may compromise the integrity of the Diplomas / certificates or the qualification / certification process.
- Not to use the certification in such manner as to bring the qualification / certification body into disrepute and not to make any statement regarding the certification which the WGI considers misleading or unauthorized.
- Not to release confidential examination materials or engage in subterfuge practices.
- Act in a manner that would not adversely affect the name of the Institute.
- Cooperate fully investigating an incident where a possible violation of this Code.
- Inform the WGI about any complaints that made against them relating to the adequacy of their certificate.
- Inform the WGI about issues that may affect the ability of a qualified / certified person to continue to meet certification requirements.
- Inform the WGI about the conflicts that may be exist between himself and the qualification / certification team
- Keep and comply with the present Code of Ethics for WGI Qualified / Certified Persons.

IMPARTIALITY INFORMATION AND DATA SAFETY POLICY OF WELDING GREEK INSTITUTE
A. IMPARTIALITY
The Welding Greek Institute, the management and staff, understanding the importance and value of personnel qualification / certification declare unequivocally their commitment to objective, reliable, independent and impartial qualification / certification services.
The Welding Greek Institute has arranged for taking clear and constantly assessed measures to ensure impartiality and avoid development of additional threats to it.
All personnel involved in the qualification / certification process consists of experienced and adequately trained personnel, the adequacy of which is evaluated at regular intervals to ensure continuously that the requirements for the proper functioning of the qualification / certification process, satisfied.
The Welding Greek Institute for any reason does not allow the qualification / certification process to become easier or cheaper than has initially fixed, affected by external or internal factors. Given that the Welding Greek Institute is a Non-Profit Organization, maintains the ability to shape political values in vulnerable groups with low incomes, and support wherever possible the young unemployed.
The administration and especially the Governing Board and the Legal Representative of the Institute, the staff of Welding Greek Institute, the Examiners, the Supervisors of examinations, the members of Boards of Certification Committee and everyone involved with the process of recognition and certification, committed to compliance with this policy and the continuous improvement of services for the benefit of society and the market.
The Company's management determines and assigns the Qualification / Certification Managers the required jurisdiction and freedom of maneuver, so they are at any time able to solve problems related to the impartiality of the procedures regarding the certification personnel. Meanwhile, Company's management proposes any corrective actions, and confirms that corrective actions and finally evaluate the results thereof.
B. DATA SAFETY
The Welding Greek Institute understanding the importance of data and information handled therein as a result of the procedures and requirements of certification services provides adopts this policy Information and Data Security.
The company's management ranks the protection of confidentiality, impartiality, integrity, availability and exchange of information as economically significant information, personal information of clients, examination papers and results, records of bodies stored in databases as primary goal for the smooth and efficient operations and customers satisfaction.
The main objectives of Information and Data Security Policy are:
- the full satisfaction of customers
- the compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements
- the Information security
- ensuring the security of the examination material, taking into account the following:
- the locations of the materials (e.g. transportation, electronic delivery, disposal, storage, Examination Centre)
- the nature of the materials (e.g. electronic, paper, test equipment)
- the steps in the examination process (e.g. development, administration, results reporting)
- the treats arising from repeated use of examination materials
The Company's management determines and assigns to the IT manager the required jurisdiction and maneuver so be able to address problems related to data and information security, to propose corrective activities to confirm that corrective actions and evaluate their results.
The Responsibility for surveillance monitoring of processes related to the impartiality issues, as well as Data Safety procedures, is undertake by the Executive Secretary of the Institute, who as legally representative the Institute, signs the Policy of Impartiality and Data safety, assisted by the Quality Manager or IT respectively.
Rules for Use of Qualification / Certification Status
It is the policy of the Welding Greek Institute [WGI], to control how personal Qualification Diplomas/ Certificates/ Identity Cards/ STAMPS of competence are used, and to act in cases of their misuse. The WGI should ensure that the professional status and valid integrity of Diplomas / Certificates Holders is maintained, and to eliminate, as far as possible, their fraudulent misuse or any associated misrepresentations of technical qualification or competency.
- Appropriate use of Diplomas/Certificates/Cards/Stamps:The Qualified/Certified Person has the right to publicise his/her qualification/certification status by using the qualification/certification or portions thereof, in those activities related within the scope of the qualification/certification. Such publicity must give a true and accurate picture of the Qualified/Certified Person’s capability covered by the qualification/certification and must considered the most appropriate, provided that such advertising gives a true and accurate image of the person’s capability covered by the qualification/certification. Diplomas / Certificates and any Stamps or Identity Cards issued by the WGI through his Qualification/Certification Schemes, remain the property of the WGI.
- Terms of USE of Diplomas / Certificates: The Qualified / Certified Person is not permitted to alter the Diploma / Certificate or its copies and/or to publish/utilise the qualification/certification outside the specified scope. Use of a Diploma or Certificate of competence is restricted to the person named on that certificate or diploma. It is intended to be used as a record of a candidate’s achievement and may be used to demonstrate proof of such an achievement. Third parties may verify such an achievement by reference to the WGI published Register of Certificated and Qualified Personnel. Diplomas & Certificates must not be used, misused, fraudulently altered or represented by others as their own.
- NOTIFICATION MISUSE and DEVIATION from APPROPRIATE USE: The WGI Governing / Certification Board encourages the reporting of all acts of fraudulent misuse or Deviation from appropriate Use. The authenticity of a Diploma / Certificate can be verified from the official register. The informant shall be encouraged to present the facts and cause of complaint in writing and forward them to the Governing / Certification Board directly. On receipt of written notification of misuse or misrepresentation of a certificate or diploma, the details shall be entered into the official Complaint Register.
- INVESTIGATION: Upon formal notification, the Governing / Certification Board shall review the circumstances of misuse determine whether a genuine case of misuse has occurred. It will recommend a suitable course of action to be taken to prevent a recurrence, rectify the present situation, or take appropriate legal action or any other action considered appropriate to maintain the integrity of the schemes and interests of Welding Greek Institute legitimate stakeholders.
Criteria for Suspension. The suspension of a Diploma / Certificate by the WGI, will result from:
- Deviations from compliance with requirements insufficient to warrant revocation, but not addressed by an agreed date.
- Inappropriate use of the Diploma / Certificate.
Criteria for withdraw / Revocation of a Diploma / Certificate. Revocation will be applied by the WGI, as a result of:
- Misuse of the Diploma / Certificate
- Cessation of the certified activity (applied on certificates only).
The suspension of Diplomas / Certificates will be notified in writing to the Qualified / Certified Person by the WGI authorised personnel, together with the supporting reasons for the suspension and the conditions for restoring the qualification / certification status.
The suspension will only be removed after the WGI authorised personnel, has verified that conformity with the requirements has been re-instated. If re-instated, the Qualified / Certified Person will be notified in writing by the WGI.
Withdraw / Revocation. As a consequence of revocation, the Qualified / Certified Person is required to:
- Return the Diploma / Certificate and/or the Stamp and/or the Professional Identification Card, to the WGI
- Refrain from using any copy of the Diploma / Certificate
- Remove all references to qualification / certification status, from all documentation and printed material. WGI will then delete the Certified Person from the public database of Qualified / Certified Persons
Second Issue of Diplomas and Certificates. As a consequence of Diploma / Certificate lost, the interested Person could ask for a New Diploma as following:
- In any case, WGI will issue an authentic / genuine Copy of the Original Diploma / Certificate.
- Under certain conditions, WGI will issue a second Diploma / Certificate, which will replace the Original one.

WGI understands the importance of impartiality in carrying out its qualification activities, manages conflict of interest and ensures the objectivity of its qualification activities.WGI acts impartially in relation to its ATBs, applicants, candidates, qualified and certified persons. Policies and procedures for qualification and/or certification of persons and for approval of ATBs, are fair among all ATB applicants, candidates, qualified and certified persons.Approval of ATBs, qualification and/or certification of persons is not restricted on the grounds of undue financial or other limiting conditions, such as membership of an association or group. WGI does not use procedures to unfairly impede or inhibit access by ATB applicants and candidates to qualification or certification.WGI is responsible for the impartiality of its qualification and/or certification activities, including the approval of ATBs, and does not allow commercial, financial or other pressures to compromise impartiality.WGI has identify threats to its impartiality on an ongoing basis.
